United States Census is Hiring

The United States Census is hiring 3,000 temporary workers to process 2010 U.S. Census forms in Phoenix.

Positions include data entry personnel, team leaders, document preparation clerks, sorter and scanner operations, check-in clerks and mail receipt/mail handlers.

Both full- and part-time workers are needed, and pay starts at $11.49 per hour plus an additional $3.35 per hour cash stipend in lieu of benefits. The jobs are all temporary and do not include benefits. The base wage goes up to as much as $17.36 per hour plus the $3.35 stipend.

Hiring for leadership positions is taking place through November.
Most of the other 3,000 hires will be made November through January, and the majority of jobs will end with the conclusion of the U.S. Census in July 2010.

To be eligible for employment, potential candidates must pass a criminal background check that includes fingerprinting, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be legally able to work in the United States and sign a sworn statement to protect Census data and pass a typing assessment test for some positions.
